Default GY6 Manual Choke

Found this ASW "retro" manual choke pn 15439 http://amsportworks.com/accessories_lutv.php# and ordered from Tom. (sycarms)

Finally took some time today and installed on both my spiderbox and LM200, and have to say I'm impressed... both seemed to start faster, and I could definitely tell I was controlling how the engine was running.

I've never liked the "auto" choke (enricher) and have been having trouble starting in this cold weather. I like this much better, well worth the money.

(and I know Tom ordered several more !)

I've thought about doing this as well. How much and how complicated?

Default GY6 manual choke

Tom gives us a discount, think it was around 40... (I bought several so not sure about price each, shipping, etc).
On the spiderbox, best to pull the carb (with the manifold), then it is very easy. Tried to install with carb still attached, kept dropping screws. Make sure you put the plate on the very first thing ! On the LM200, very easy, more room to work.

I got a GS moon the carb is fairly easy to get to. How long do you have to let it idle with the the manual choke before its warmed up enough to go. With the enrichment valve now mine takes about 8 minutes.

I've been playing with it, killed it a few times by turning it off too soon. If I just sit it takes several minutes (have not timed it yet) but if I start driving off, I can turn it off in a minute or so. Works just like all my other engines, you can "tell" when to push the choke in.

Best part is starting is so much easier now.

So I take it you can turn it on and off while driving.

yes, went out this weekend, 35 degrees, started up right away. Drove off and once it was running smooth turned it off. I'm convinced this is a much better way to go. Sure beats cranking, removing the air filter and shooting starter fluid, etc.

I like the idea of having more control over it. Might have to put it on my short list of things to pick up.

yeh, that's what convinced me, I never knew for sure if the "auto" choke was working, with this there is no doubt. Push it in too soon, it dies, choke it again and it starts right up. For some reason the GY6 is the only motor I've got with a "auto" choke, all the rest (motorcycles, mowers, power washer, generator, etc) have a manual choke. I don't even like the "push button" primer, try to get a real choke whenever I can.

Got mine sipped out Saturday. Can't wait to get it insalled. So glad to have full control of the choke and don't have to worry about it malfunctioning.

from experience, put the sq plate on first ! had to completely uninstall to get the plate on.
Also, on the spider box, just pull the carb to install, was really frustrated until I pulled the carb and then it went on quick.

Thanks for the advice. I got it in the mail yesterday, and it looks pretty good. Take you long to install yours?

Where did you mount this little sucker? I am at a little bit of a loss since th cable isn't all that long. Any advice on where you mounted would be greatly appreciated.

On the Yerf, it mounts between the seats and will bolt through an existing hole in the tubing.
