If you haven't done it yet don't gut your exhaust I did and it was way to loud even with a helmet on. No power gain at all it actually lost power. I replaced it with a fmf spark arrestor muffler and it is still loud but better after I welded a washer 7/8 inside the 1 1/4 tail pipe to add back pressure.
My first muffler mod was the best with a 3/4 inch inside diameter tail pipe in place of the 5/8 stock tail pipe tip. |

I did a partial gut to mine http://www.buggymasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4516
I only removed one restricter plate and the catalytic materiel. I had good results.

No cats on our buggies and I removed every thing and was bummed because it was loud.

I haven't gutted yet....do not think I'm gonna...i did build one using 3/4 pipe a coupling and a old map gas bottle..welded it all up and inserted washer in the end where I can turn washer to add or release back pressure...i have not been able to run it yet due to still needing clutch.....i ran the motor with it...its louder and runs still fine...but won't know until I can get tires on ground..
