300xrx re-jetting?
Hey guys! I'm new here. Got the family a pair of Trailmasters for Christmas, a 150xrx and a 300xrx. I recently installed a Uni filter on thr 300 and I plan on doing the exhaust as well. I understand I'll probably need to change the carb jets, but I don't see any listed online anywhere for the 300. Would the jets for a 250 gy6 be the ones I need? Or is there a source for the 300?
Really lovin' the buggys, btw, and finding these forums full of information was one of the factors that led to me taking the plunge on them! |

Most motorcycle shops will have a selection of jets. There are only a few different styles, take yours to the shop to compare.

Same jets as used on the gy6 and cn250 motors, I keep them in stock.

Arrrgh! Well I pulled the carb yesterday only to discover that two of the screws on the bowl are "tamper proof". There are brass screws with no slots. I may try dremel slots for a screwdriver, but there's not a lot of material there.

Grind the heads off with your dremel to get the bowl off or drill head off using a drill than using vise grips remove what is left of the screw. You'll need to replace the screws which can be purchased from Fastnal supply. If you have a problem locating the metric screw give me a call 662-301-1563 I have them in stock.

Thanks for the tip and source for replacement screws! I may just use this as an excuse to buy a bigger carb lol. Haven't decided yet. Ive got the 300 and my daughter's 150 to keep me occupied. :-D

Bigger is not necessarily better. If the engine does not pump the volume necessary to efficiently operate the larger carburetor you will actually loose performance. The stock carb supplied is more than enough for that engine.

Cool. I'll probably be giving you a call about the screws. Now that I know I don't need a bigger carb, and one of other posts saved me from spending money on a hi-rev cdi, I'll have more to spend on other mods! Thanks for the info!

Well... got the carb apart today and I have the wrong jets. Mine has a hex hed (6mm I think). Looking around the net, it appears it's the kind used on Mikuni carbs. That's the only thing I can find that looks like it.

Post a pic of the jet and what size is your jet.
