Unhappy Manco silver fox gfx update

Well i just strted some upgrading today on my Manco silver fox buggy. the front tires were way to small for my taste so i decided to see if the spindles on my old 230 quad sport would fit. they did and wow what a differnce. i got almost 4 inches more ground clearnce in the front now. got rid of the old gokart shocks up front and put the quad sport shocks on.just clears the frame lol. i would post some pic's but i can not upload them from my phone. i was also wondering if i can use the mods i read about on this site with my 6.5 hp 212cc predator motor? any idea or suggentions would be great. a point in thr right diretion. thanks in advance

just ask away on the mods. you could go with a bigger exhaust rejet and a little trick i do on those is on the govenor spring i put a small zip tie loosly through the spring as to not mess with the idle but will prevent it from stretching upon throtle use. i do this with the small manco kart i have.

Ya not really looking for a racing pipe. just something that rumbles a little and maybe a little more hp lol I love that word!! i got the comett 30 series if i'm not mistaken. i took it off the honda knock off 6.5 196cc motor that was on the buggy.

hope this helps. there are different springs you can get for the driven pully. and the driven pullies have 3 spring settings.

Alright just remembered I already started a thread. Well I have been missing for a minute. Had to acquire some much needed tools for this build. As I stated in my hello from Richmond, Mi thread. I kept tearing up belts, a Norman racing clutch and a number of 6 inch rims. I decided to try our the spindles and rims and tires from my old quad sport. They fit but when I turned the wheel all the way the tire would rub the frame. So I got tired of the kid cart and clean cut the silver fox front end off. Then the quad sport. Matted them together. As we all know life gets busy. Then I got my new sled and this project got put aside for about a year. Well now I'm back at it and determined to get er back together. Pic's to follow

Here's a couple picks of the roof braces I have been working on. Side view before roof braces and inner roll bars. The front was welded on last year. The front end is not a 100% welded. I'm doing this build with no plans all out of my head, so I change Thing's alot lol. I'm open to suggestions and friendly advice.

2slickNick thé only advice i can give you is, make sûre thé quad front end is square and level before attaching it to the gocart frame. Use slugs in all the joints( meanig Ã* piece of pipe that will fit in side thé frame pipe and gocart). Make sûre thé area your welding it to us very clean, and last but not least, good luck

Looks like good parts but you will be needing an engine too, to power your buggy. 500 is a lot for something you will chop up.

Looks GREAT for parts, but 500 is a bit steep. If that guy put that all together himself, he'll know the "msrp" price of those parts and won't want to take less, see if he's the second owner then try to negotiate. 500 is pretty expensive for parts...

@2slicknick, ya i hear ya, $500 is a good chunk of change to just chop it up. But according to the add it's already set up for a sled motor and I got 2 of them. Still not sure which one I'm going with at the moment. One is a 82 Yamaha srv 540 and the other one is my 95 Yamaha phazer 2 I just bought right before Christmas.I was thinking I could just use the whole rear end. I'm still in deep thought over this. Decisions, decisions lol

@fauxfox, I agree if he's the builder he's not gonna budge much. But your also right, if he is the second owner, I may be able to make a deal. The thing looks pretty ragged on. I would have to see it person and check it out thoroughly.

Ya bear I agree. Offered him $275 and he didn't take it to well lol. Tryed to tell him I could go to a salvage yard and get the same set up for a couple hundred. I got the bottom roll bars in yesterday. I'll put pics up later because I'm at work at the moment.

I think he's gonna have a hard time getting that much for it! You'll probably see it listed again in awhile with a "reduced" price!

ya bear,I think your right about him listing it again lol. thanks for the offer on the buggy. I'm not really trying to spend money on another buggy. i just went and checked out that one because it already was set up for a sled motor and had irs. I was just gonna chop it up and use the parts on the one i'm building now. although i do have my 95 Yamaha phazer 2 on cl. im trying to trade it for a 2 seat buggy thats in excellent condition. my sled worth 800-1000 so any trade under that would have to add cash.

Did a little more work on the buggy the last couple days. It's been pain fully slow lol. Been pretty busy lately and haven't had time to work on it in a week now. So here's a couple pics

Pic 1-2.) Started the process of welding in my front support bar on the front of the buggy.

Pic 3-4.) I also started the rear Axel guard off the side of the buggy. Don't want to clip a tree directly on the axel

More to come soon

Thanks 2slickNick. I'm using up every thing I can for this build as I don't have a tube bender yet. Got to find things that will work and already have the bends and look I'm going after lol. I already chopped up 1 home made cart and used a little bit of a second one lol. Recycle, recycle

I did a little more work on the buggy today. Had to take the yellow screen out thats behind where the seat goes, so I could weld the back side of the x bracing that goes behind the seat. That took a few. Had to break all the tack welds. Will be getting the other axel guard on some time this week. This weekend is gonna be a busy weekend lol. Happy memorial day to all our troops out there that are serving or have served. Thank you

Hey all been pretty busy lately, my rider went to **** so I went out and bought a new one. That just cut in on my build funds. Going camping here in July and the roof on our old camper started leaking. Had to fix that. Helped out a friend with his kids brakes on his car Not to mention, I also had to put brakes on mine and my wifes truck lol. I finally got out to the barn and did a little more work on the buggy today. I got the left side axel guard in place. I also put the two last inner roof supports in. Now I'll have to flip it on it's side and weld up the whole inner right side of the buggy. Then I'm moving back to the front and gonna finish up there. I'm also thinking of adding two support bars to the front window area of the buggy. The pic with the vise grips .. ( thoughts? Any body) here's a couple pics

Small update:

Got to work on the buggy for a few after work today. Got the right side inside roll bar pretty much buttoned up. Did a little tinkering around with rear swing arm ideas. Nothing major. Here's a couple pics of the buggy on it's side... Stay tuned for more

Hey guys, wow!! I guess it's been awhile since I updated this thread. I have been busy the last 6-7months. I moved and now work mid nights. Needless to say i haven't had the time or the place to work on my buggy. Well I'm back at it. Over the last couple weeks I have set up shop in my dad's garage. I bought a second buggy with a irs set up to use on the silver Fox. I got to work on the buggy Sunday for a few. I cut the new buggy right before the seat and I am now in the process of mateing the two together. With me working midnights I'm only gonna get 1 day a week to work on this. I'll try and keep this thread up to date. Here's a couple of pictures of where I'm at now. Stay tuned for more

Thanks X-bird. Ya like I said it's been awhile since I updated this thread lol. I always wanted to do irs but didn't want to pay top dollar for it on my first build. Then I came across this parts buggy and said wth. Be back at it this weekend. I'm hoping to get it up and running by at least late spring but we will see.

Happy Easter everybody!! Had a good time with my family today. Got a little time to work on the buggy yesterday and today for a couple hours. I had to relevel the buggy after my dad bumped it working on his truck. That took a good hour and half. Had to remove the rear end I just set up the weekend prior. Needless to say, I pulled it and reset it. I also had to cut the lowerer gokart rear cross brace out to buttt up the rear end the way I wanted it. I made a seat pan area cross brace out of c channel as the second buggy was built using square tubing. It was a tight fit but went together pretty smoothly. Got that tack welded in. I also cut the rear roll bar as I have a few things needed to be done in the back. The roll bar had to be moved back about 6 inches so I have more engine room for the sled motor. I also need a place to build new rear shock mounts. I think that covers about everything this week. Stay tuned for more. Here's a couple pic's. Ps... Ignore the pic of the tire size lol idk why I uploaded it

Hey all, Hope you had a great weekend. I got about 4 hours on Sunday to get a little more work on Manco silver Fox. I cut out the bike motor mounts on the new rear end. Removed the fire wall metal and rear floor pan. I also had to make a upper rear brace. Not a big update, but it's progress. I'll have more this weekend. Stay tuned. Here's a couple of pic's

Thanks Numbers, when I dove into this build, I thought it was gonna be simple. Just weld a quad front end on and build a rear swing arm to hold the sled motor and bang your done. lol. I can throw that therory out the window. As I was reading other people's builds, I got interested in a irs set up until I found out what it costs to build one when your working on a super tight budget. So I put the project aside for about 6-8 months. Well needless to say, I came across another older buggy that had irs set up, so I picked it up. Cut the whole rear end off and decided to mate the to together to save some building time and that's where I'm at now. Fun to build but not so fun. More of a learning experience lol
