Smile Carter Talon 150 no spark

Ok folks I have a problem I hope you can help with.
I just picked up a Carter Talon 150 that will not run
Started to check and found no spark to the plug.
This buggy had been thru 5 different places trying to get it to run so wiring was a mess
Now then after replacing the Stator , a/c cdi , regulator , coil, and key switch
I now get a spark only if you bump the key it sparks everytime I bump it
However if you hold keyswitch over to crank it she will not fire.
I am getting 53 vac from stator with wire unplugged
I am getting nothing at all from the pickup sensor while cranking.
So I replaced the pickup sensor and still same results.
I have a very big gap between the pickup and the magnet on the flywheel.
There is no adjustment there to be made so.
Heres my next question does anyone know what the gap should be.
Like I said a lot of people have been working on this and they were using a d/c cdi which is wrong.
It even had the wrong stator as it came with a 8 post and they had a 6 post on it so I put a 8 post back on it.
Next question is the pickup magnet on a 8 post flywheel bigger than a 6 post
I am wondering if they put a 6 post flywheel on it.
Sorry so long just wanted to cover it all at once
Any help please.
P.s. everything I have done to this so far was because of all the great post on this site and I thank you for that. I have learned a lot.
