Default ninja go cart

Well got another project to start on, Just going to build a fun yard cart, maybe a few light trails. Putting a Kaw. Ninja 250R on it.

got the shifter, clutch handle done. working on jackshaft.

if you're putting a 250 to that jackshaft with the sprocket that far over you'll definitely want to hang a support bearing on the other end of it.

if you're test driving at this stage, I advise not to or very gingerly, that pair of front tubes is not going to support much at all. if the welds/front tube crack, the steering wheel will pin you in a rather painful manner .... if you look at the underside, you'll find most of the welds are likely not complete and stop at the 3/4 point around the tube on either side.

have rewelded the steering tubes. not finished with the cage. not test driving it yet. hadn't even wired it up.

Default rad. location

looking for the best location for the radiator. Does it need to be above the engine? front or behind. Have limited space. thanks

You'll want it where it can get good airflow and the cap should be the highest point of the cooling system.

I guess you could put the cap lower as long as when you fill the system it's higher.

got the gas tank mounted, rad. mount. A couple of front bars tacked in place, and the pedals moved in some, also the guage cluster mounted. A long way to go, but getting there.

do you have plans for the front suspension and steering? with that motor, you don't want that front end on it.

I've heard the the Spyder box yerf dog is the one with a bad frontend. Gonna try it and see how it works, if not I have some Yamaha A arms, and hubs.

That is the cheaper (smaller) Yerdog version. 3203 style with the Tecumseh 6.5HP engine. I think it only has like 1" tubing. Got one for my nephews and the tubing cracks really easily.

The Spider box is the larger version with 1 1/4" tubing if I remember correctly? It's frame is much stouter then the version you have there.

I HIGHLY suggest you reinforce the frame if you're going to use that power plant on it.

And yes, that front end is cheap as well. The steering spindle bent easily when driving my nephew and hit a large rock.

Don't even mess with the yerf parts up front. go right to the yamaha parts. You get front brakes, better hubs, better rim and tire choices, better shock selections and will have an easier time finding parts.

also go right to a steering rack. don't even attempt to make pitman style junk work. in that regard, BD's modded spiderbox rack and a yerf extending double jointed column is a good, fairly affordable choice.
