Is the vacuum fuel pump pumping while cranking engine? Does the carburetor have fuel in the bowl?

Check and see if the fuel filter has gas in it. If the fuel filter is not stopped up then clean out the carburetor bowl. Should start right up.

The Carters originally come with vacuum fuel pump located at bottom of fuel tank. There are 2 lines going to the pump. One is vacuum coming off the intake the other is fuel line going to the carb. On the pump the bottom line will be vacuum the top fuel. Remove the fuel line from carb, crank engine and you should see fuel pulse from fuel line. If not remove filter. If still no fuel, pump is bad. If fuel is pumped than the problem is in the carb.

Get rid of the vacuum operated petcock and go with a manual one, and if u can 1/4 clear fuel line and a inline filter that way u can see if ur getting fuel and its a much better setup.
