150 Kandi dies under throttle/load
I have a 150cc large body Kandi style buggy. I've had it since 2013 and it always ran fine. I drained the bad gas and put a new battery on it. It starts and runs but dies under throttle.
I changed the spark plug and pulled the air filter out. No change. I tried adjusting the throttle and still no change. Is there an electric choke on it or any adjustments I can do to the carb. Idk what else it would be. It ran fine when stores in my pole barn in October. Please help! |

Clean out the carburetor and check fuel filter. Also tune it. You can Google it and find very easy instructions.

Okay further inspection showed a piece connected to the vacuum line and on the front of the air filter box.
Does anyone know the name for this or what to replace the air filter box with that would be better? |

Possible plugged filler cap vent (spiders , wasps) , fuel line restriction ( tank petcock , filter , degraded hose ) pull line off at carb and check flow . More than likely Carb. is gummed up from old gas ( gas is only good 30-60 days ) disassemble and clean out carb paying extra attention to holes in the emulsion tube if so equipped ( Carb. schematic , or Mechanic if this is new to you ) . You said it bogs under acceleration , choke is off after first minutes of operation and would not cause lack of acceleration , but hard starting . The part in your picture looks to me like a oil , water , crud drain for the airbox inline with the breather hose to airbox . Just wash it or run the breather hose to box without it . As I've stated before most Chinese OEM box's and filters I've seen are JUNK ! Do yourself a favor and look for 6" plenum/intake and K&N filter for your application , or fab one up yourself . Here is one out of left field .... Exhaust plugged up from mouse nest ?????? SEEN IT BEFORE ! GOOD LUCK .

Here's a cheat if your hesitant to tear your carb. down . Remove gas hose from your tank and run engine till it runs out of gas completely . Get an education and buy the best spray carb. cleaner available . Then simply keep spraying cleaner into the ( vertical ) hose till carb. and hose are completely full , wait a couple days , hook hose back to tank with CLEAN gas and give er a whirl . Half-Assed but might remedy if only mildly gummed up .

The main issue I think is vacuum related. That appears to be the vacuum line to the air filter box. That isn't removed. If you look close it was snapped off and dragging under. All around the engine. Just freely hanging there.
Although I was wondering why no one suggested just filling the carb with cleaner rather than taking it apart. That's what we did with our mowers when they sat for a bit at my old landscape company. It always fixed the problem. |

i have the exact same problem. The part you took a picture of, I believe is like a vent for the manifold. Pcp? I dont think its a vacuum problem. I have a **** load of parts coming today, coil, reciftier, everything that it could be, I hope. Let me know if you find the problem please. I'll do the same. Watch this video. I did all the testing the guy says and I know I have a few bad parts .

Okay I took this part and plastic welded it back on. Still didn't fix the problem.

You started out saying that it ran fine last year, and the first thing you did this year was drain the bad gas. Your carb is gummed up, gauranteed. Filling it with carb cleaner is a 50/50 solution. It needs to be carefully dismantled, soaked in solvent or even gas (leave it outside in an bucket). Then spray out the passages with carb cleaner. If your not comfortable doing it yourself take it to a motorcycle or small engine shop. Worst case buy a brand new factory carb and keep the other for parts.

For the record quick weld plastic weld worked great on that part. It made a solid seal and hasn't come off yet.
I also ran fuel additive for a while and changed the fuel filter which helped but only slightly. Yesterday I pulled the carb and filled it with cleaner I'm going to get the excess off and try it out in an hour or two |

In other news my late 90's exmark 36" walk behind sat for 18 months and started on the first pull. If you don't turn the shut off the carb leaks out the bowl if it sits.
But why can't these carbs be like those old leaky things?! Lol. |

The carbs are not the problem it's the ethanol fuel. You should only run ethanol free fuel. Any new mower, chain saw, weed-eater, buggy, atv boat with non fuel injection will tell you that using even 10% ethanol will void the warranty.
