Default Early HH Twister 150 key switch problems.

Have an early model HH Twister that i cant get to crank with key. Im not getting power to any of the ign switch wires. Power is making it to the dash as lights, horn, etc work. (even with switch unplugged ) (3 wire btw)

Relay under dash clicks and stays activated as long as battery is connected. Have tried a couple of known good relays. Also what is that diode under the dash for?

Red wire to switch should have 12 volts with brake pedal depressed. If not brake pedal safety switch could be bad or wiring problem with red 12 volt supply to switch.

Dont believe it has brake saftey....at least no HH ive ever had has but ill double check. Its getting 12 volts to rely under dash at all times. Any clue to what the diode under the dash is? Ive heard it can cause these symptoms but idk? Here is the link to the wiring. Its 3rd page

I was going by an old HH schematic I have. It shows the brake safety switch. I tried to open your link but it say's I do not have permission to access.

Ok got it to open. Looking at the schematic, the only things the switch is wired to are the start solenois, CDI, and kill switch.Basically it is a hot switch with an open ground so when you turn the key to the run position it completes the ground allowing current to flow to the CDI. The same applies to the to the start circuit. Have you checked the kill switch? The relay is for the flashers and will not affect the start or run . The diod should not affect the start circuit but if bad you will not get power to the ignition circuit. Check the green wire at switch it should go to ground, if not check that wire or for a bad ground. Also check the kill switch but even if the kill switch is bad it should still turn the starter for it will only affect the ignition.

Theres 2 relays...one round on for flasher and a square one that has 2 red from battery and green/white to the diode then blue white to relay then black from relay to a couple of things in dash and then back to cdi/start solenoid. Kill switch works cause motor runs but key wont kill it only kill button will.

On the hammerheadperformance.com site click Technical Info then its the UM150IIR

Update. Got it fixed finally....turns out cdi 4pin plug had 1 wire wrong. the green/white wire thats sposed to go from cdi to diode and key was wired in to the ground bundle in the electrical box. Now everything comes on/off with key including the relay under the dash.

Now new problem...Hit the key spun over bout a turn and made a loud clunk and now motor will only turn one way by hand.....starter clutch? Has been running good all this time and was running earlier today but i do seem to recall a noise from the flywheel side but didnt think much of it :/

Sounds like the starter clutch but I would tear it down to make sure.
