Roketa GK-13B w/ 400cc snowmachine engine
You experienced folks should be able to easily convince me to not buy a Roketa buggy with a 400ish cc snowmachine engine. This is a no longer running. It's been sitting for a year. It will fire up and run as long as you are spraying starter fluid in the air intake so I'm thinking maybe it just need a new reed valve and carb cleaning.
What do you think? Last edited by the_law_man01; 09-14-2016 at 10:07 AM. |

It's part of a pending trade for my VTX 1800 C so we'll see how it goes. The guy has 3 or 4 early 2000-2005 4 wheelers, this buggy project, and $1000 cash. That only puts his total value at about $3250-3750 depending on how many 4 wheelers and what condition. My bike is an 03 worth less than 9000 miles. It values at about $5500.
I'm figuring $500 trade value for 2 of the 4 wheelers ("name brand 4x2), up to $750 for a 500cc Polaris 4x4, maybe $500 for the buggy project (am I being generous), and the cash. Thoughts? |

Are the ATV's running? What are they? My first thoughts are that you are shorting yourself. But depends on condition and what they are for the trades.

2004 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4
Yamaha yfm250 Bear Tracker Kawasaki Lakota 300 Kawasaki Small Bear (?) 250 (I can't find a Kawasaki Small Bear) And an older Kawasaki 4x4 w/ snow plow blade that needs new ball joints (at least). Not sure of the years on anything but the scrambler. He said all of the 4 wheelers are utility style (have utility tracks). |

Are they all running otherwise? In running form (ready to ride) to me the scrambler is about a $1200-$1500 machine depending on how nice it is, most near trackers go for around $700 around here, a bayou 250 around $600. (Just not popular..) and the bayou 300 around $1000-$1200...again just not a popular machine (if it's fully automatic it is a Prairie and worth up to $500 more). The buggy probably $400 I'd say. A VTX 1800 IS a popular machine and a nice one at that. If they are all nice and you want some new toys then what the heck. I personally have not had good luck in trades like this. People get my good stuff and I get a pile of junk... But that's just my experience.

I hear ya. Bikes just aren't selling well right now. At least, not if you don't want to give it away for nothing. I'm making arrangements to go look at the 4 wheelers and buggy this weekend. It won't stop training so I'm not sure how that will work out. The guy claims they are all in good running shape, but the one the use for a snow plow is a little rough. As far as whether an engine runs well or not, checking for slop in transmission/joints, etc. Just wasn't sure what they would go for if they were in good enough condition to run. ATVs tend to sell a lot better around here right now.
