Bent lower control arm and brackets
Hey guys. I was out in my ASW Quantum earlier and I managed to clip a stump on the trail with my front passenger wheel. I got it home to see that it was a bit cock eyed. When I slid underneath I can see I have a pinch in the front of the lower control arm. I also managed to bend the front set of mounting brackets that are welded to the frame pretty well.
I suppose I already know the answer, I'll have to fab some new brackets and cut the old ones off. I don't imagine I could straighten them. As far as the pinch in the arm, I figure I can bend it back fairly straight and weld on a support of some sort until I can get a new set of LCA's. What do you guys think, any of you been here before? I got a better look at it today in the light. I can't see how a stump would have bent the arm this way. It had to have been a rock hidden in the grass but I didn't see any rocks nearby on the trail.
The passenger front wheel was angled out quite a bit from the control arm and mounting brackets being bent. I adjusted my tie rods to get the wheels pointed straight. I lost quite a bit of steering angle on left hand turns and my steering wheel is way off center but at least it drives until I get my new LCA in. Are there any other parts that I should just buy at the same time? I was thinking tie rod ends. I don't have money to burn but also don't want to skimp when replacing parts.
