Default Oil catch from the valve covers

Wondering how other people place their hose coming out of valve covers?
At this point just got it tied to side of engine frame. I've heard of ppl putting some sort of filter on it. ???
Should there be some sort of filter, to prevent dirt going back up into it?
Guess have same question for the Vent for back case also.
I happen to come across this.

I do drive on a lot of fine sand and dirt. Dry grass. Something I should consider?

On mine I run a longer hose up high, so any oil will drain back, and just put a fuel filter on the end of the hose to keep out anything foreign.
