Gear swapping short case howhit to long case linhai

I have a chance to buy a running water cooled 250cc linhai xy260t-4 powered scooter for peanuts. I'm looking at getting it to replace the howhit 150cc on my yerfdog spiderbox. I know the howhit is a short case and the linhai will require some messaging to swap in the buggy. My biggest concern is will the geartrain in the drive ends swap? I'm sure the scooter gearing would make the buggy a absolute dog and negate the added power from the increased displacement. I'm kinda new to the whole gy6 based engine thing. My first thought was to swap in a 10hp single cylinder diesel but I'm will to try my hand with the gy6 stuff if I can get some guidance. Thanks in advance!

Water cooled 250 isn't a gy6 nor be a bolt in swap for where a gy6 was.

Build the GY6, if done correctly with good parts it will out perform the 250.
