Trailmaster Mid XRX-R regulator wiring

Greetings,

I have a trailmaster mid xrx-r I purchased used and the wiring is a mess. I found a wiring diagram for the xrx that is very similar. The only thing I'm having trouble figuring out is the regulator has 3 wires, a red wire and two green wires coming out of it and the stator has a black and yellow wire coming from it. I know where the red regulator wire goes but does it matter which green wire connects to which wire coming from the stator, the black or yellow wire?

Anyone know what this yellow wire coming out of the crankcase is for? Looks like a sensor of some sort. It's right behind the starter solenoid.
