I am new to forums and this kind of stuff. I have just got into go karts and buggies. I just got my SunL 250 running and bought two Murray go karts. I want to convert one of them to an electric kart. The other is a Kilowatt that needs alot of front end work. I would like to make it a double A arm, but I'm not sure where to get parts and what would work.

the kilowatt would be a great candidate for the electric thing. Great mounting platform for doing that...plus it has a fitting name

I removed the old engine from the Kilowatt today. The electric motor has a 7/8 shaft so I can't put 3/4 torque converter on it. I'm not sure what the rpms are so I don't know if a torque converter will work.

seems to me someone makes a 7/8 drive type. Just google it. I don't think you would need or want the torque converter with an electric motor.

Your right I don't need a torque converter. I found the sprockets and chain I needed at *************.com. I just need to mount the motor and figure out how to adjust for chain tension. The electric motor is a 24v dc from a crown electric pallet jack. It is as heavy as the engine was. Thats not including the two 12v 28Ah batteries, motor controls/relays and speed controler. I will take some pictures. If anyones interested.

The murry's stock setup is perfect. If you take a good look at it, you'll see that you can bolt the motor in place in line with the sprockets. The plate that they mount the engine to slides back and forth! That happens to be how they deal with setting the chain tension in factory form.

there have been electric go karts out there for quite a long time. They call them golf carts May be simple to steal the drive train componets out from under one. could save alot of time and money. golf carts for parts go really cheap.

Test drove it, and it needs better batteries. Looking for 12v deep cycle.
