Ha! I'm going to keep you guys busy for a while! Probably the only part of my yerf that has not been modified is the steering wheel. Once you get that front end squared away try this one.
I had to get rid of those stupid gas and brake pedals! I did this one for several reasons I am a big guy. 6'5" 230lbs. with feet to match! I wanted leg room. The way the stock pedal are placed, my feet stuck out and some times grazed a tire in a hard turn. . There was just no real comfortable way to place my feet and work the pedals. The way they are mounted was just plain dumb and cheap! I also wanted a pedal system that could be worked with one foot. I wanted to drive the buggy using the heel / toe method for better control. I can use my left foot to brace against hits. This also gives room for a future clutch pedal. [ I am developing a design for a manual positive lockup clutch for the gy6 but that's another story] I also did not like where the brake master cylinder was located, in the rear wheel area! Catching everything the tire can throw at it! By switching to a duel master cylinder I will either install front brakes or add another rotor to the rear. I haven't decided yet. the debate is still on going as which is best. I'm leaning towards the duel rear brake system, gotta love those power slides!!! Especially in a yerf where you got to slide the rear sometimes to make a tight turn. The master cylinder is now under the passenger seat. I also moved the battery off the swing arm to under the driver seat for two reasons. To reduced unsprung weight off the swing arm and moving a little weight forwards and to give room for a bigger/ better battery in a more service friendly, element protective spot. I'm still refining this and some aspects look a little crude but it satisfies all my wants. I'm real happy with the comfort and ease of use. |
