i read some othere posts on here ran out and checked my needle slide is free but doesnt open when i give it throttle only the butterfly infront of that opens so idk what to do with it if you take the load off it (put it on jacks) it will rap right out just seems like a dog and it takes a small snort of ether to get it to fire regardless hot or cold maybe its just wore out and needs a rebuild?

To answer your qestion... Your buggy is..............Dirty.

I am still kind of new to the Bubby scene, but i am sure one of these guys will come up with the answer. I will guess it is a Yerf Dog or a Hammerhead. Sorry i wasn't very helpful.

You should invest in a compression tester to find out what the compression is on the one that idles but won't go. I still question your carb status on it. The slide is operated by vacuum and it kind of acts like there is no supply to the diaphram that manages that. Also, I have seen machines that are brand spanking new where it just had bad machining on the carb and it would act like yours. On that machine i doubt that is the problem though simply because it clearly looks like it has been ridden.

For the one that wont fire at all, what happens if you shoot it with some ether?

Default Good start

Welcome to the forum 586, you came to the right place. I agree with the buggyman on the first one id check the compression, or see if your clutch pully belt is worn out. on the second on you say it just turns over but is it getting spark? also check your valve clearance, they should be at .004. if they are closed to tight it will crank all day but wont fire, hope this helps you.

buggy master i put a comp gauge on the one that runs its at 95 lbs and the one that wont start evan with starting fluid is sitting at about 65 lbs so i no that one needs rebuilt , as far as the one that idles ive switched carbs still didnt help and there is a pulsing pressure/vacuem from the line off the intake for the carb diafram so that seems to be working i put a video up of it on a earleir post above maybe it is valves like bear says its geting good spark to old plug was fowld but i replaced that , is the picock off the gas tank a fuel Pump when i took the gas line off no gas came out i cranked the moter over and gas poured out so thought that was odd thatnks for helping me out to guys

The buggy you posted looks an awful lot like a carter made buggy. Does it have reverse? I have one that looks very similar to it. Mine was sold new under the "maxxas" brand and is the 150r model.

Default not enuff!

Ok charlie now that we got some info, first neither of ur buggy's is gettin enuff compression for the engine which is a tell tale sign of bad rings! u should be @ about 145 or so. As for ur fuel supply it is a vacum demand system when u crank the engine it supplies the carb with fuel & once u shut it off the fuel stops. hope this help u, keep us posted

p.s. valve setting loss is just something that happens from time to time & should be considered just regular maitenance & is easy to do

you will have to take the head & jug off to "mic" it to see what size piston & cylinder wall you have, should be either 57 or 57.4 mm. one thing that gets me is i didnt see the one that runs smoking in the video, that would definitly let you know it was rings! the way it sounds in the video is like it definitly needs the valves adjusted though.

just to let you know that if the valves arent adjusted right and arent opening all the way, once you get them set right your buggy may then begin to smoke!

I'm pretty new to this but on my kart, there is a number stamped on the engine case below the engine cover on the drivers side that will tell you the engine size. You pretty much have to lay down on the floor to see it. Hope that helps.
