Question Any advice on a 13 hp Honda engined Thunderkart?

Frame looks a little thin and no side mirrors or accessories.........
Any thoughts about this buggy? Is this made by Manco and Thunderkart is just the brand name of the seats?!
Thanks!

.......with lots of leg room!!!!

Being new to buggys, I'm just not familiar with which ones are good to "mod".
I noticed this one had a good 13 hp motor, so I figured it had potential, but it would need some work....... and some add-ons!

I just need to drive a few more and compare. That 250HH I drove the other day looked cool from a distance but had been abused. $1800 was too high for one that showed signs of such hard use.......
Funny thing is, when I find a nice one that HASN'T been abused, I'm going to buy it and abuse it myself!

Don't know about the make, but I bet the ride in that thing is brutal: little to no suspension at all. Your brain will be rattled after the 1st 5 minutes on anything other than flat terrain.

It probably would not be easy to get spare parts for it, either. Pass on this one.

If/When I get one of those, I shoot for <$500 and if you do find it, you'll find that you still want a mini buggy. They are cool but you are not getting the suspension you get on a mini buggy. Based on what you have been looking for, I would advise you to pass as you will not be satisfied with that.

Manco made the thunder kart but the clutch, belt ect. is comet which went belly up. I had to order a belt for a customer and the belt cost me $68.00 due to it being an odd ball size comet belt. The ride will be terrible on most trails. I would wait and get a mini buggy with suspension. TOM

I would say that $800 is a little bit high. Try to negotiate to $500 or so. And I would definitely agree with what Mink said up there about there being no suspension.

Yeah, it didn't look like it quite had the 'nads' for what I plan to do with it......
Or the suspension to protect mine!
I'm def gonna keep looking.

Default regarding the GX390 engine on the cart..

There's tons of hop-up parts for the engine though, since it's raced a lot.

Seen one putting out 30 hp. Parts for the engine and such are REAL easy.

As for the frame-can't answer that one-haven't seen it. I ride a mini-buggy... But, I am considering using this engine as a power plant on a scratch built model with some suspension since you can get them easily in copies from harbor freight and all the high performance parts work on it also.

Having rambled all that - I would say wait on a real suspension. I love mine and it's easy on me. Plus, I almost made a friend pee in his pants last weekend when he rode with me for the first time.

Now, that's good riding.
