When you go to put the other engine on, you will likely need to extend the rear swingarm section to accomodate it and that will give you a bit more wheel base.

the 350cc looks like it will fit ok ,i may need to do something with the header pipe.dont know what ill do yet the muffler is so long i may cut some of the header out and rebend it.the header goes about 8 or 10"out in frount of the engine so i may need to shorten up some.as for the wheel base by adding to the frount it will put most of the wait of the buggy in the backso it wont nose dive as bad when jumped.but adding linth to the back it will nose dive more.
but like you said i may have to,i hope not.

For the exhaust, when I go to do this I plan on bringing it out along the side and then it will do a 90 degree at the rear of the swing arm and run paralell to the rear edge of the swingarm. Probably have to extend part of the pipe and have an exhaust shop do the bends so they are right. I figure just take the buggy to the shop so they can get it right.

you know i may do that.i wonder if it would change the power band of the motor by adding or taking away from the pipe becouse of the lacation of the expansion pipe.i can see that the size of the expansion doese this one is long and slinder unlike the ones on a bike (short and fat).bike motors are high rpm's and this one is for torke (4 wd) 5500RPM'S is about all this one doese.
35hp@5500rpms not bad thats more than hondas 400ex

How about an orange and black paint job? I always wanted to do that to the old Manco I had but I never did it because I didn't want the paint to chip off and make it look like crap.

When you said it would have the front end kind of like that of a helix, I can picture what it might look like.

Just a suggestion,

Although you can fit the 350 on the stock swingarm you will improve the ride if you balance the increase in length at the front of the main frame and a little bit in the rear.

You can do this by cutting out the center bar on the bottom of your swing arm. Cut it in half.

Make your next cut just past the bearing housing plate and insert the 2 new pieces. after you weld it lay some angle iron across the length to spread the load across the base.

Now the bar you cut away will be replaced with the new metal in the proper position for your engine mount. For some engines like the 350 you can mount it sideways to eliminate the exhaust problem. However with the extentions you will have plenty of room and a very smooth ride and reduced bounce in the rear when your hitting jumps.

i havent put much thought into it but wouldent it be the same to just move the axels back on the swing arm?that way it would get longer wheel base for the smother ride and more balance.i may not be geting what you are saying but if i am i think it may be better to move the axel back.the space behind it is a wast any way

i seen your vid (part 2) nice by the way.it looks like the big reason it rids better is becouse your back shocks are still in stock location.you added more travel by adding lenth to the swing arm were you did and it also makes the shocks seem softer.

we have 2 shocks on the buggy. The larger is pre loaded. I forget what video part that was shown in.

as for moving the axle back you will only gain a few inchs and you will need to close up the rear and stregthen the base anyway. Plus your going to need a rear bumper or guard since your sprocket will now be exposed to impact. (Bumper - good idea no matter which way you build it)

You can do it both ways but you will need to add metal in several areas and keeping the housing plates in place just makes it easier to cut and measure.

NOTE: The center bar in many of these swing arms is not true center so make sure you check them out before you start cutting. If you leave the center bar and move the plates back make sure you beef up the center bar to handle the impact of the bigger motor. Remember the center bar was installed to hold the swing arm square no for engine support. So check the welds good.

this quad was given to me for free!it was locked you could not pull the rope so i put a rinch on the crank and it turned easy.so i pulled the rope again and it worked?so i tryed to start it and it ran!the guy that gave it to me dident like that but i had cut it in half so its no good for him any way.i guess the starter was locked up in there some how.
i did some trading and got some 9"travel air shocks. i can adjust the ride height
by letting air in or out and make the ride hard or soft in short it should make it easy to get it right.

right now im more pumped about the suspension than the 350.it doese no good to have a buggy that can do 60+ if you cant drive it that fast becouse your bounceing every were.when the carter was new(its an 08)the shocks were so stiff when it was just me it was so bounce that i could not go over 25-28mph on the 4 weeler trail going down the side of the hiway.with two in the buggy it was not to bad but it was a hand full over 30mph.after about a year the shock springs got softer and then with two people i could drive with one hand at 35mph and with just me i could run wide open.still bounced way to much you know even at 30mph it will wake you up when the back end bounce up about 12"and lands way over to the side.so LONG TRAVEL EVO it is!

Seems like your shocks were broke or something. They should have had some rebound control to keep you from bouncing.

That thing is going to be cool. Can't wait to see what all is involved on putting that engine on there. Polaris seems to be to be one of the better bets in doing so because of the right hand chain drive.

for the motor im thing of mounting it to the frame behind the seat not on the swing arm and put a jack shaft at the pivot point of the swing arm.so the swing arm will be lighter and can move faster.that will help the ride a lot becouse the motor weght is unsprung or no shocks and that makes bounce.i think that will be a nice set up whith out going to full irs.

The weight of that motor will provide some absorption capabilities. I think without it, it would be more bouncy.

Seems like your shocks were broke or something. They should have had some rebound control to keep you from bouncing.

That thing is going to be cool. Can't wait to see what all is involved on putting that engine on there. Polaris seems to be to be one of the better bets in doing so because of the right hand chain drive.
this is not smooth ground on the side of the hiway, and as the shocks got softer it got better.it only has oil shocks in back and if thay were broke it would have been worse.keep in mine i cant ride my 4 weeler 20-25mph on this trail to bumpy and to many dips.so its better than that but not what i want,i need to kill this raptor that runs around here.just becouse you can go fast on the street dont mean you can do it in the dirt.lol

well the tires holding the weihgt on impact will bounce harder just like throwing a ball on the ground.hit it hard and it will bounce high.with the swing arm light it will move out of the way of the bump faster and get to the ground faster.

BuggyMaster is right. The added weight does soften the ride and with the added length to the buggy will ride very smooth.

As for the front end you already have the perfect setup with the position of the new upper frame. I would suggest selecting the longest travel shock you can afford and design your control arms to match them.

Don't forget that those are just shocks. They are not going to support the buggy.

Out of navy blue or yellow, I would say yellow. If I was doing it, I would have black rims, suspension arms, and trim; and an orange frame. Huh? Ya dig?

no these are air shocks thay will hold the buggy.some one else used these and made a reservoir for his and he said he could not even feel the bumps and thay worked good.the reservoir made it more kushey with more travel.

Didn't realize that. Seems to me it might suck pretty bad if you blew a line out in the field somewhere. Kinda neat though that you can adjust your ride height.

lol yes that would suck to limp home like a low rider but it would still be ok becouse at full droop it will sit about 3" off the ground.im thinking if i keep the lines zip tied to the tubes hopefully all will be well for snaging the line.i dont think the line will come off by it self i had some on a truck and never had any trouble.
cant wait to see how everything works!
