Default oil in the intake Carbide 150

My sons kart stopped running over the weekend. I took the filter housing apart and the filter was caked with oil and there was a lot of oil in the intake housing. Why would there be so much oil in the intake?

When I removed the filter the kart started right up. I put an old K&N filter on and it ran like new again.

Any help is appreciated...

Ya oil gets in there through tube that connects to it from valve cover. How old is the carbide?

less than a month, but my son runs it real hard. I changed the oil after the first 2-3 hours with good quality oil. I didnt change the oil filter however and put a little too much oil in when I changed it. it was slightly over the dip stick marking but I left it alone. The oil now is right in the middle of the markings. Most of the oil I think was a mixture of oil and water.
