Default New guy and a question... "built in reverse" GY6 engines..

Hello everybody. Looks like a great forum. I hope to have some fun soon. My question is about the GY6 engines with built in (internal) reverse. Here's one for example.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/150CC...Q5fAccessories

and another... http://www.motopartsmax.com/index.ph...ducts_id/15403

What I'd like to know,is how strong are these reverse gears? do they break easy? Also out of these two examples, whitch one is the stronger version? The gear select levers go into the case in different spots. Are they built tuff?

The reason I ask all these questions,is because I read this thread here and saw all this damage http://buggymasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1052 Is this due to abuse,or just a poor design?

I would like to have a reverse gear for my project, but not if it breaks easy.

One last thing... With these internal reverse engines,do I just stop, select, and go,or do I have to stop, select, rock vehicle back and forth to get things to mesh, and then go?

Thanks in advance, Dude

welcome to the group-both of the internal reverses you are showing here are for scooters or pit bikes if you are using in a buggy would have to modify shifter to shift from
inside the cart-the best i think are howhit w/internal reverse

Thanks for the reply, but this is the style I'm looking for. My project is really small. In the picture I posted in the link,I was wondering if its just weak parts,or is this from frying the tires in the dirt then hitting dry pavement,or perhaps flying in forward, locking up the brakes, shifting into reverse then hitting the gas to spin the tires,or??

Usualy from coming out of gear. Put a keeper spring on the shifter at the tranny so it keeps it in drive and there fine. If your project is small then a buggy engine would be better than a scooter engine. The engine your looking at has a longer cvt than our's

The first link is a short case cvt. Do they get shorter than this?

Also, who has good quality gy6 engines with reverse at a good price?

Thanks in advance,Dude

short case is the shortest-most people tear up the trans from shifting back and forth
like a stuck car the gears are not synchronized shifting back & forth w/o letting off the
gas completely is hard on them
