Hello again
We've joined this board a long time ago. Never really had much to say, just viewing, reading and keeping up with the latest news and such. But I thought I might as well stop and say hello. Many on the board here know me. At least from the BN forum over the years. But I wanted to introduce ourselves again, say Hi to some old friends and let everyone know what's going on with us.
Many of you know that my wife and I created a non profit charity called Racing Dreamz. We started out hoping to really blaze a trail with the charity, get some good grants, as we are the only non profit with a mission like ours. We'll we learned alot in this past year or so. Number one, grants dont come easy. Especially if you are a new charity with no track record. In other words, new charities dont get grants. So, we've had to spend out of our pockets. Those that know me know I'm not a wealthy, ok, I aint got squat. But we've managed. Anyway, back to the post, we've been able to sell a few mini utv's to fund our charity and mission. We're now trying to purchase or lease more land to build our kart tracks. Oh, we were supposed to purchase 100 acres the first of this year, but the bank had something to say about that. NO!! As did the local county commissioner that lived in that area. He didnt want his little playground(owned by someone else) taken over by a bunch of sniveling kids on gokarts. So, we were not able to purchase that. With that said, my wife and I said goodbye to this county and met with the mayor and admin of the next county over. They welcomed us and asked us to set up there. So, we're trying to just that. Our plans, if we can get the right property, is to build a tri-oval dirt racing track with a dirt infield road course. One of our programs is the sprint kart racing field. Since paving would cost in the BIG thousands of dollars, something we dont have, I've talked with a bunch of race karters in the region and they said they would love a dirt road course and a tri-oval(not seen in dirt karters). So, we're going to try that. Our other program is off road karting. AKA buggys and other fun vehicles. Depending on our purchase/lease, if the acreage is there, we'll have a small off road kart track. With the hills in east Tenn, it will be a challenge for the drivers. The karts will not go fast, they will have to have torque and geared for the hills. AND, the best part of all, this county, Johnson County, has just opened an 8600 acres OHV park. We are welcome to use 8600 acres also. So, if we can get all these ducks in a row and make things happen, Racing Dreamz will be set. Plus, we're old enough now and somewhat of a track records, we may be able to obtain small grants to help keep the mission going. We do have a few kids in the programs, no real seat time in the karts yet, just simulators. We are also selling now, BMS and KandiUSA products to fund our mission. Let me explain further. We are NOT selling, but for a donation, a sizeable donation that will cover our cost of purchasing the kart/buggy wholesale, plus a little extra for us, you, the donor, will receive the kart/buggy, PLUS, a very nice IRS Tax Deductible Receipt(write off). So you get a great buggy/kart at a great discount, plus a tax write off too. A double gimme for your wallet. And, of course, you help the only non profit(501c3) that tries to help disadvantaged kids find a better path in life thru karting/buggying. So, that's what we've been doing and hoping to keep doing. For more information on Racing Dreamz, visit us at www.racingdreamz.org or give us a call at 423-297-8228. We love talking with you. We hope to begin the old radio show, Bedo's Buggy Talk, when we get the tracks going. Live radio during the racing action. Oh, with our buggys/karts that we offer, we recommend to the donor to visit some of the contributors here on the forum for the aftermarket parts. And we will continue to do so. Racing Dreams never forgets their friends and supporters. I hope I've not spammed or anything by telling everyone about Racing Dreamz. If we did, I apologize before hand. Thank you. |
