Default Brought Home something I don't need!

Well, I was browsing around on craigslist last night and came across a great deal on a Spiderbox. It is in acceptable conditions, but it is missing the roll bars. My intent was to just purchase it for spare parts, the kid said it hasn't ran in 6 months and they think that the carb is dirty. Well, I offered him $125.00 for it and he accepted it so I loaded it up and headed home with it. Once My bro and I unloaded it we hooked up some jumper cables to see if it would turn over and it did. From there we looked over the engine to see why it wasn't starting, well, the carb was very loose on the intake manifold so I tightened it up and we tried to start it again. It started right up and Idled with no problems.
they have had to fix a few things on it, like one of the spindles, they have the BD heavy duty ball joints, and a heavy duty chain tensioner. They also have added a Uni filter, but it seems as though it has not been rejeted because while doing a test ride it seems as though it doesn't want to get up to full speed.
Once I get into everything, like changing the oil, and cleaning the carb, I'll check to see what the problem really is.

here are a couple pics. It needs to be cleaned up a bit.

yeah, the gas tank is why I bought it! lol... My bro and I was trying to figure out the whole time why did they decide to mount it there, and in that way....

I plan on just getting it somewhat trail worthy and using it as a back up buggy, so I don't have to ride with anyone if they come over! they can sign a waver saying if they flip it and get hurt that it's their fault. It doesn't have seat belts either... I'll probably build a new set of roll bars, but I don't have a tubing bender, so I might have to use square tubing.

Yep, wont look bad either way... as long as it's effective I don't care. I'll have it good to go in a few weeks. I didn't want another 150cc buggy just yet, I was looking for a 250, but for 125 bucks I couldn't pass it up.

pop a SC tank on it, have some tubing bent for a cage and flip it for funds to buy the 250. I bet 100 more into it and you could do a fast double on it.

That will be the overall goal, I'll probably toss a couple hundred into it clean it up and sell it this winter.

Can you please share what that was posted under? I am on STL craigslist everyday seems like all day trying to find a deal like that. Looking for another buggy so the wife can go with me and my son when we go to St. Joe and ride. Nice find. Glad to hear it was a simple fix to get it running.

I just typed in "go kart" that is what I always start with, this was at around 2am and it was the 6th post... If they call a 150cc or 250cc buggy a go kart that means they don't know what they have on hand, or they do and they just don't care and or trying to get rid of it. You can get them really cheap when they are posted like that, but you also can't go by what they say in the post because most of the time they don't know what they are talking about.

the post read "The go kart doesn't run but it did 6 months ago. I believe it has a 6.5 hp howhit motor. NO TRADES." That was it, not a lot of info to go on but I knew the parts alone are worth well over that much to me, I'd pay that in shipping from ******** or BD.

This is still listed, It might not be sold yet... http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/3101536092.html it's a Kenroad 250. its been on there for a week or so, I'd offer $600.00 they might take it.

@zapper, I did hunt a while back with my Grandfather but I never owned my own gun. It's been years since I've been hunting for anything, not much of a gun man. I was an arm security officer for a couple years and that's the most I've been around guns, my girlfriend of 5 years doesn't like them in the house...go figure.

.... open invitation to come rob me! lol

I will be getting some kind of handgun soon, just don't know what.

@ FloridaCracker, Thanks!

I'd suggest you NOT do that.

I bought my Yerf for under $300 in the fall. And now guys want $650-800 for them.

Summer is the time to sell!!!!!!

Xlint89, I was thinking the same thing, I just didn't feel like going in and editing my post... The reverse gearboxes on ebay have jumped over 100% in price this summer, in the winter they are 89.00, now they want $200+ just for the gearbox.

I'll just get it fixed up ride it a little bit, and sell it next year and hopefully I can have a 250 before the Buggy bash.

Oh, and I got the Blasters mounted on my current spiderbox, they are a little stiff as you said, but they have damping and my other shocks didn't. I still have to re-do the mounts I have them in the stock mounts for now but I don't know how long that will last or if there will be any adverse effects.

Can the Blaster shock springs be changed out?

Yep, they got to me pretty quick.

I found out that the springs can be changed pretty easy, all you need is a spring compressor and the ring at the top will slide out and the springs can be removed. I should have some springs around that are about the same length, I'm gonna try and change them out.

Yes I'm addicted! I just got off an addiction to RC planes... Now this!

Nice pick. It doesn't hurt to have an extra in the stable if you have the room. A 250 would be nice though.

That's another problem...room, I don't really have a lot to store em. I have mine in the garage, and my buddys on the side of my house, they wont' fit in the backyard because it's fenced in, and the gates are to small, I also have a shed back there but the doors are to small on it. For now it will be stored at my bros until I can figure something out.
