Smile Hello from Canada

Just picked up my first dunebuggy Carbide 150cc. My kids love it and I occasionally squeeze into it to boot around. A lot of fun.

I have had to replace the tires already and also the battery. Other than that, just basic maintenance. Until my starter went, which is why I joined the forum. Looking for help on removing the old starter so I can slip in the new one. But... hard to find answers. Hopefully I can turn some up here.

Either way, from Canada. Nice to meet you.

Welcome to the addiction. There are only 2 8mm bolts to remove the starter along with battery lead. May have to wiggle or lightly pry to remove due to o-rig giving it a snug fit.

Disconnect your battery before removing the starter.

Starter removal is easy just like sycarms says. Once those 2 bolts are off from the top of the engine case you will need to wiggle and pry the starter out to the left. Then follow the wire lead to the fuse panel, where it's bolted to the solenoid terminal. Remove the nut and remove the wire. Install new starter in the reverse order.

I'd recommend buying an aftermarket hi torque starter like those orange and chrome Nibbi brand ones. Starts faster and should last longer. In Canada the best deals I found are at Scootertuning.ca in Quebec. I try to buy from them when possible to save on the ridiculous shipping and duty fees from the US. if need to buy across the border them try SYC Power Sports that Sycarms offers.
