Default land to ride on

I"m sure this ain"t the right place for this but what the heck, just let me know if you move it. LOL I just put an ad on Craigslist looking for a place to ride my buggy locally and hopefully another one if I can get it. I asked for a place with some hills and woods. I promised them their place would not be trashed and trash would be hauled off by us everytime. I also told them that I had a small Kubota tractor with tiller, scrape blade, and box scrape that I would use to make everything right before and after use. I also said I would sign a lease for it if neccessary, but it would have to be cheap since I would only be using it mostly on the week ends, and I would sign a release releasing them from any injuries that may occurr. I also told them if they wanted to join in with their kids or grand kids they were welcome, but I warned them , the smiles on their faces would be PRICELESS. Did I miss anything I should have included? zman

I see your in South Carolina, I'm surprised you don't have woods to ride around down there. Here in new jersey if you don't own the land you pretty much SOL, unless you get lucky and find a friend with land and likes to ride.. Wish you the best finding some riding spots.

It's actually amazing that everyone is so anti everything now a days. Of course, with everyone being sue happy and looking for their free ride at someone else's expense, I do understand why they tell you to get lost. Around these parts, we have a few national parks that allow quads and such, and my step dad belongs to a hunting club which is almost never used between march and august, so I'm in luck there I suppose. I often wanted to lease some land and hold some off road venues, but the land down here is hella expensive.

You might get in touch with some timber companies in your area and see who they lease their land to, most times its a hunting club, and see if they can get you in touch with them. Might have to be supervised by a member, but hey, its a start, and if the membership is reasonable, maybe join. Just throwing ideas out there.

I'm thankful I have the Shawnee national forest where I live. Ur not supposed to ride it, but there are so ,any trails already u could go for days. The conservation here is only around seasonally mainly for deer season in fall.and if county cops see you gonna roadway, the won't hardly bother you, if they see your acting stupid, they will most likely pull you over and ask where your headed,

If you don't mind driving a few hours, we also have the Ocala national forest, in which you can pretty much ride anytime it isn't deer or bear seasons, but everyone knows about it and it is often over run with high school kids and their raptors their parents bought, doing stupid crap on the trails at 60+. I have a few friends that have messed themselves up out there, and one who died, of course riding a raptor, and after some adult beverages were consumed. In this case, exclusivity I would rather have, for safety sake.

ck with your local forestry. I once lived close to some forestry controlled land and they let us ride in the fire cuts to keep them cleaned out of leaves. Less work for them, lots of trails/fun for us.

i live right between pineville KY and Harlan Ky... if you drive 20 minutes one way your in harlan where it is legal to ride on the roads and there is black mountain recreational.. and if you drive 10 minutes in the other direction there is wilderness trail offroad park where they have all the concerts and everything really nice place all different types of riding with more and more riding opening up.....

What is happening is we live in coal mine communities and with the new laws passing and it getting more strict on the mines they are shutting down and these offroad parks is leasing more and more land for there parks.... in harlan they are working on building a atv acessible waterpark with some more cabins and last year they put it a zip line right on the park... its pretty nice and brings alot of tourism to our community....

Have any of you guys tried this? Just click on your state, or the state you want to ride in, and it lists places to ride. It gives phone #'s, prices, restrictions, and ratings of difficulty and more.

yea 351, I found several places around here you could go and pay to ride, but I was looking for something more local with not so much traffic on it. Mainly because most of the people riding mine would have no type of experience riding one of these much less riding it around others. I was looking for someone like with a farm or just a good wooded area.

Hey Black Scorpion,
Here in south NJ we ride all the time! Of course, it is not exactly legal, but there are plenty of spots that we get away with it. NJ is a HARD place to be a buggy owner, but I have been killin it since '05 here in the slime.
PM me if you need some info!

OK...Born in Philly, but living in South NJ for 38 years now, I gotta chime in.
Riding legally in NJ=Pipe dreams.
Of course, there is the off chance that you know someone with more than a few acres left without a house or another property butting up against it...but in my experience, that has been slim and none. Not counting the extreme northwest end of the state-that's not really NJ anymore tho anyway-more PA or NY rules going on up there.
Other than that, it is all highly illeagal and at your own risk...with that in mind, there are many communities that are ATV FRIENDLY-meaning they most likely will not call the cops on you or have your rig towed. These too, are few and far between.
There are public spots here and there in the state that locals know-if you can park at a friend's house or in a really tucked in area, you can usually get away with it. That is how I ride-and I ride OFTEN!
I am located in Pitman, NJ-about 40 min west of Atlantic City, and about 30 min east of Center City in Philly(where the stadiums are). I am 30 minutes from Wharton State Forest in Batsto, NJ. There is A LOT of riding down here...but most, if not all, is illeagal and pretty hot. BUT, we still have a great time.
Now, I also own an enduro(or dual sport) bike, which, in my opinion, is the only way to go as far as off road motorsports that are legal in NJ. You can ride on any public land(state parks, etc) with an enduro.
Unfortunately, these are the only options in NJ. Sucks, but it is what it is.
Any info you need-PM me. I would be happy to let anyone in on my spots.

I had a friend come over last weekend and he brought a friend of his with him that just bought some land about 7 miles from me. He says he had about 14 acres with some trails, and told me I could ride there if I wanted to . I think I will have to check him out.

One of my good friends lives in Greenville S.C.
Whenever I bring the buggy down we were gonna check out ATV world, but hay close to home and free range to ride. Awesome.

Man, when I hear you southern boys talk about what you can get away with down there-well, I am just crazy jealous. Sounds like ATV paradise.

It might be summer of 2014 since he goes back and forth between our hometown Ft. Lauderdale and Greenville. I think I need to start a post too. I need a place to ride.
