Default Quad bike engine swap

Hey guys,

Another question on swapping engines. I have the shaft driven version of the Kandi 250 buggy (with independent rear suspension, not solid axle), and i was wondering, because of the cvt layout, would it be possible to swap out the old CN250 based engine with a CVT driven quadbike engine? i have two quads in mind; the kawasaki kvf300 and the yamaha grizzly 300. Both have cvt, both are liquid cooled, both are shaft driven and both produce about twice as much horsepower as the old CN250 engine. Therefore, i was just wondering, would it be possible to change motors? if so, would you have to use the cvt and radiator that comes with the quads, or could the original cvt and radiator of the buggy be used?

any feedback would be appreciated.

thanks,

drumnut

you'll probably want to keep the quad's rad setup since the water pump, tubing/flow rate, surface area etc is designed for the engine. The CVT is a toss up. quad engine is larger, so more power and the cvt designed for that--however, quad is lighter so that's taken into account in the design as well. I'd look long and hard at the CVTs and figure out which one can handle the power and weight of the buggy the best.
