Default comet tav 30

hey i have a tav 30 and i have a problem with it. when i go to take off and once i get moving, the belt doesnt start moving towards the middle on the driven unit and the belt doesnt come out on the drive unit. so it goes slow as can be. im looking for speed rather than torque. the spring is in the 1 hole. any help?

have you taken the clutch/drive unit off and checked the 2 weight springs for breakage?

Do you think you have a TAV 20 because there is a 20 stamped on the bell of the clutch? The TAV 20 and 30 are the same -both rated for 8hp.The TAV 20 was only rated for 3100rpm and the TAV 30 is rated for 3600rpm. Have you removed the clutch and looked at the weights, springs and pins?Have you cleaned and lubed it?

Do like metalstudman1 says and take the units apart and clean the heck out of them. Take pictures and post them if you can and we can advise you on what the problem might be.

You have a 30 series clutch- here's a link to let you view the parts breakdown and description of how to maintain it. Scroll all the way down the page and read.
