Default tires

what size tires do you suggest to upgrade to on the helix. my fronts are still the stock tires, i changed the rear tires but they are the same size. i want a little more ground clearance but dont want to loose a lot of speed. what can i go with.

Take a look at the pic below. This is my old Helix. because of the clearance, you have to stick with the stock tires up front however in the rear, you can bump them up quite a bit. The rims you see in the back here are Douglass 10" rims (vs the stock 8") and the tires are 20's. Just look for rear rims/tires for a Honda 400 EX or 450R and the bolt pattern is the same. Not to mention I think I picked up 2 or 3 mph. The real benefit was that when it snowed, the stock tires won't do much for you, these however were excellent.

To tell you the truth, I have always felt that the tire size on the Carbide is about perfect for it. Only thing I would change is I would go with a knobby style pattern like what booda72 has on his. Look at his photo album from his profile. I had similar on one of my Helix buggies and those tires were great.

Actually, just like the ones on my helix picture above. They were Dunlops.

i think the carbide shouldn't have the stock treads because the stock tiresonthe helix dont have alot of grip. but thats just my opinion.

Buggy Master, did you have to weld something to mount your front fenders? My Helix 150cc didn't come with any fenders or anything to screw any after market ones. What did you have to do to have them?

Here's a thread on adding the fenders. You do need to weld the front mounts in place:
