Default backfireing and crazy idle

My gy6 in my baja dune 150 has a problem. When its running it will sudenly begin to backfire and sputter like crazy. It used to happen every once in a while but now it begins to go crazy as soon as you start it. I have checked everything
Adjusted the valves cleaned the carberutor checked the timing (which was a tooth off) and looked for airleaks all with no result. Someone told me it might be the cdi so a performance one is on its way. Any ideas?

typically backfires are from incorrect timing.

Check your coil and cdi wires to make sure they are clean and tight. If that doesnt work try a coil. When mine went out it was doing the same thing as yours. Run fine sometimes and other times would spit and sputter. Progressively got worse.
