Trailmaster 300 XRX motor oil
Hello. I just purchased a Trailmaster 300 XRX and I have run into a small technical problem. My wife and I got it together. No missing pieces or anything of that nature. My question is about the motor oil. The book says 2 different things. In one area it says 15w 40 and in another it says 10w 40. Can anyone clear this up for me?

I would run the 10w40 in the cooler temps and the 15w40 in the heat. Both will act the same at operating temperature.

Ditto!
I agree with "Stanger", I recall a piece that Tom from SYCPOWERSPORTS did on oils for these buggy's, but I cant recall when, or where exactly!?

I thought you were being facetious, then I checked his user name again.
10w40 here as well. I am told, even with the liquid cooled engines, not to run conventional car motor oil. I personally run the Honda 10w40 powersports oil in everything, little pricey, but I know its meant for what I am doing. ~$30/gallon

You can get shell rotella t 15w40 at wal mart for about $13 a gallon. It is "jaso ma" oil (motorcycle oil). This means it doesn't have the friction modifiers that cause motorcycle clutches to slip. And it doesn't have the additives that motorcycle transmissions break down (shear). The clutch part doesn't pertain to your buggy, but the trans part does.

I have been running the shell rotella 15w/40 in our dune 150s for years. The most important thing is to change it often. I change the oil almost every trip to the desert due to the heat and powder like sand that gets past the uni filter.
