Hello From The Pacific Northwest
Hi,
My name is Dennis. I'm a retired R&D Equipment Designer who now just tinkers in my shop on different projects. I just joined tonight and am looking for information about a kids kart I just bought from a couple here in Washington state. It is 8-9 years old and called a BMX. I believe it is a 150 cc automatic with reverse. Can't find any information so far on the net about it and with the Brand name of BMX it's even harder because of all the bike sites! I am trying to find out who might have made it and where I could get some help on finding any manuals or parts lists and few parts such as a mechanical rear brake caliper. Eventually I would like to look into converting to a hydraulic system to include installing front rotors and calipers. Im going to attach a couple of photos of the kart and if any of you folks with knowledge about this setup would like to advise I would appreciate it. Haven't started it up yet will put in new gas tomorrow and get a battery in it and see what happens. Well Just an update on my efforts. Clean fuel took the carb apart and blew it out put it all back together and all is good! Now if I could only figure out what this rig had for a mechanical disk brake caliper we would be rolling. Welcome , it looks more like a 110 cc to me . Just keep searching distributors ads , for something similar as the same buggy's are often sold by many different companies , all with different names .

Thanks for the reply. Yes it appears to be 110cc KinRoad motor with automatic with forward and reverse. From all my searching on the net I think it was built by TaoTao. I was able to get it running with some fresh gas and a good through carb cleaning. So now I'm just trying to chase down the original mechanical brake configuration for now. And then I'll work on installing a hydraulic master cylinder and rear caliper in the weeks to come. Regards, |

It's a small frame buggy distributed under several names. Kinroad and blade are the two most common The major issue with these is in the rear swing-arm design. That "tower" that holds the fuel tank puts a severe stress on the lower swing arm frame. I've seen several that have snapped between the tower mount point and the lower shock mount.

Completely agree you way too much over hung load for any serious off roading. I have come across the info on KinRoad karts found some parts list info but no luck on finding anyone who carries the caliper they show for use on their karts that look like mine. It appears the caliper they use is an integrated lever actuated hydraulic caliper. But in other videos and photos I get partial views of a much smaller mechanical caliper. I'll post pics I have found. The Yerf-Dog does great with just a few upgrades. I cannot believe this was a shot from 9 years ago.

If you just bought that, looks like it's pretty clean. Thou can see why the location of the gas tank, could cause problems. Why on the swing arm? How hard would it be to make some of your own brackets, and fab up something pretty much in same location, but just build it off the upper roll bars coming down?
