Question new motor

I have a carter talon with a 150 gy6 motor in it and i want some more power, i was wondering how hard would it be if i wanted to put a street bike engine in it, like how much would i have to change and what extra parts to buy. i want to do it a professional as possible.

what can i do to it to make it faster, right now it dosnt climb good and i want to power to kick the rear around. i would like to see how much power i could put out of the little 150 if i can get the HP out of it that would b better than cutting up a 2200 dollar machine. i also would like the power to carry 2 adults with still decent power. i ride really hard, the first year i bought it i rolled to over on my hand and broke it in 3 places, much fun though, the buggy is really pretty sturdy.

the money you will spend on the 150 will buy a bike motor.buy a cheep bike and part it out and you get a free motor.not far from me a guy has a 77 honda cb750 and a parts bike for $500 and the motor runs!if you keep an eye out you will see lots of good deals like that.
if you can do some fab go for it like buggy master said look and see what every body is doing and take what you like.
dont rush in to the build know what and how you will do it befor you start.

let us know what you will do and we will help you do it right.

I have just installed a 2.2 mm stroker crank and 61mm big bore in my wifes 150. I have 12 gram sldiers, mrp exhaust, koso clutch, 39 tooth axle sprocket, performance cdi, k&n air filter. it pulled me and a customer about my same size 40mph at 9200rpm, and also pulled up a hill good to.

all of that would run around 400-500.00.

you can do just some simple cvt, exhaust and air intake mods and get some good power from it

There is a lot you can do to the GY6 to wake it up, it depends on what your budget is, as Big E stated there are big bores the larger ones require the case to be bored, stroker cranks, cams, 4 valve heads ect. I would start with the basics first by modding the cvt, and making the engine breath better by installing either a UNI or K&N filter, opening up the exhaust and a rejet. Document your performance than you can add more mods. The mods you do depend on what kind of driving you do eg. low end torque for hill climbing or mid to upper range for all out going faster. If you decide to go into the engine you will need some experience or a good manual being particular to detail and of coarse quality parts. TOM

First off we'll need to know about your buggy and location. What kind of buggy and about what year is it. Has anything been modded yet or is it totally stock? Where are yo located? TOM

Not sure if Carter was using the sym engine in 2008 in all models, but it should either have markings on the engine or you can check your owners manual. If you mainly want low end for climbing the first mods should be to get more air fuel to the engine and get more exhaust out. To accomplish this you would get rid of the factory ait box and replace it with a UNI or K&N air filter at the same time you would open up the exhaust which you could call me so as to determine which muffler you have, and also rejet the carburetor. You would also either mod the cvt with lighter rollers, heavier torque and clutch springs or replace the stock cvt components with a performance variator and clutch. this could all be done within your budget. Once you do these basic mods and realise the performance gain you will be wanting to mod the engine. If you have any questions you can call me at 662-301-1563 to discuss in further detail. TOM
