Carbide 150cc Will Not Start
We have a Carbide 150 cart that just stopped running while my son was driving it. It doesn't have but about 80 hours on it. It has spark, compression and fuel, but will not even try to fire. I took it to a local motorcycle mechanic. He isn't familiar with them but I downloaded all the manuals.
He checked out all the things I had and checked valve adjustments timing, etc. It still will not fire. I even tried a little starting fluid but it won't even make an attempt to backfire or anything. Does anyone have a clue about this, or had it happen to them? Thanks |

Make sure the two wires are connected all the way one the ignition coil wire, it fixed mine

You need to run a compression test on it. Some of these machines will run lean from the factory and it is possible it popped the piston or something like that.

One simple thing is to check the two kill switches are not pushed in.
One is on the dash and one on the electonics box by the motor (red buttons). Also in the black box is a fuse you might want to check that, it will not start without that. |

Look at the flywheel on the right side. It is secured by a woodruff key and if it shears, it will throw spark timing off.

Thanks for the quick responses. It does have fire and the compression is good. We will check on the flywheel when I get in from work today.

Leaks in your intake elbow and exhaust header can also make for hard starting.

The flywheel was ok. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Might sound crazy but my sons had that happen, I found
the kill button on the dash he had hit it from behind and got the wires together only other problem like it his would not do anything and it was the bigger white plug on the back. Make sure and let use know so when you figure it out . It's got to be something like simple maybe not easy to find |

What color was the spark, how much compression do you have, and when he checked the valves what were they set at. How did you determine you were getting gas?

well you need 3 things air..compression, sparks plug, gas, try putting a minute small amount of fuel in the clyinder take out the plug if runs on it then dies its internakl carb trouble or blockage, dont spray it in the air cleaner put it right on top of the piston, that will tell iff carb trouble or not
