Can't go wot on new gy6
Title says it all. Installed a new gy6 broke it in with no real issues ; now when I accelerate from 0- low speeds it feels as if my chain is "jumping" teeth on one of my sprockets. Chain is reasonably tight (per recommendations) . No teeth are missing or damaged.
I don't believe it is the chain but that's the only way I can think of to explain how it feels , not a slippage but a jerking lurch. Anyone ever have this issue or have any ideas ? Motor runs great other than that. My buggy is a crossfire 150 (non R ) |

variator weights out of place or broken clutch springs/worn out clutch.

Thank you for quick response.
Wouldn't that be a more consistent issue than just low speed heavy throttle launches ? I am just starting to learn about these gy6 motors/transmissions so I'm not questioning your response just trying to understand why something like this happens to a new gy6. What do I look for when I open her up? Last edited by Leesiel; 05-25-2017 at 10:28 AM. |

There should be 3/8" to 1/2" play in the chain. I can tell you that on my Blade if the chain is too tight it will act like yours. The chain has to have some play.

It has 1/4 -3/8 " of play I'll try loosening a little to see if it helps. Thnx

Fixed the issue I believe ; I think it was a combination of things
1. A "sheath" for the main engine mount bolt didn't get installed during engine swap. 2 rear engine mount was missing washers and had bent the bolt that was holding it. Added thicker washers and replaced bolt. 3. Tightened chain to about a 1/4 of an inch in play. Adjusted till problem disappeared. Two passengers and several WOT launches later no more lurching. |

Mine feels like that after the clutch gets hot. But I know my clutch is absolutely shot.
