Poorly Running Engine FIXED!
I bought an old Carbide 150 dune buggy around a month ago. It was not running at the time so I got a great deal on it. Finally got it running but it ran like CRAP! and would cut off after around 5 minutes. Read alot of postings about similar problems with a ton of different suggestions. The carburator was the most common suggestion, followed by the auto choke. After tearing down the carb twice and putting on a new auto choke, the engine still ran like crap.
Then I read a few postings that suggested a valve adjustment. For those who have never opened up an engine, have no fear. I found a video on youtube under "gy6 valve adjustment" that walked me through it. I spent less than $7 on a set of feeler guages at Auto Zone and it took me less than 20 minutes. Put it back together and the buggy runs like a champ! Set the intake at .003 and the exhaust at .004. Definitely fixed the poorly running engine problem. Thanks to everyone for the advice. |

Bad rings or valve seals comes to mind first.
Have you done a compression test lately? |

had them do a compession check at prostock performance n ken said it showed about 50psi but that was before i set the valves right and got the engine running right would that make a difference?
