Default 150cc gy6 not putting out any power when in forward

I have a 150cc gy6 baja reaction that runs fine when it is in nuetral and idles just fine, and when i give it gas in nuetral it is really peppy and wants to go but when i put it in forward it has no power at all, it will move 10 feet very slowly and just stop going. It is a stock engine except for the things i have added, a uni cold air intake, a 130 main jet and a crankcase uni breather filter. I was thinking it was the jet and i was gonna put the 109 back in it. Any ideas?

How did it run before the mods?

it ran ok before the mods, slow take off and it had to build up the speed. It probably went 15-20mph, before them.

sounds like it was maybe starving for gas before you did anything to it. I would say put it back stock and start from there. check to make sure carb, is clean fuel lines are flowing freely, etc.

Ok, so it's likely you had a fuel issue before, and adding more air probably made it worse. You could try the smaller jet, but without knowing where you are, we really can't give much more on the jetting(need to know elevation).

You may also be having issues with the CVT, have you serviced and cleaned it recently?

I would think even stock, top speed should be higher than that.

I have a baja reaction and yes top speed is higher than that. Between 32 and 35 mph. Check your CVT . Weights, clutch, and belt.it can be a lot of things. Carburetor, push your buggy by hand and see if it rolls easy.do all above mentioned by the other guys. And check your plug after a wot test. Your plug can tell you a lot.

A 130 main is a big jet, I would go with a 115 or 117 to start, as for no power do you mean it wont move just rev up?

As for the jet I tried a 125 when I opened up the muffler on my Baja dune 150 with a uni filter and it ran like junk. If your motor isn't flowing that much more than stock a 130 jet will be like putting the fire out in your engine.

Definitely check your cvt belt and clutch, and variator.

The fuel is flowing good, the carb is clean, I cleaned it inside and out with carb cleaner. I replaced the jet back to the original one which is 109 and i tried it the other night and it did the same thing, i live in Indiana, i'm not sure what the elevation is here. I haven't cleaned the cvt or even messed with it, i don't wanna mess anything up. When i first got the buggy, about a month ago it was hard to start, it floods really easy and gas comes out of the air-filter. When i put it in forward it revs high, but no power is getting to the wheels. When i push it by hand it is easy but sometimes it gets stuck in forward and it won't go into reverse. Probably should have mentioned earlier.

Your gonna have open up your CVT cover and check inside. Weights, belt, clutch. And maybe adjust your reverse cable. These are the easy basic things to do before anything.

Also if your idle is too high it will make it hard to shift into any gear.

I took the cover off and checked inside, the belt looks fine, the clutches look good, inside the cover was dirty.

Check inside your variant or it's where the weights are at

if it has gas coming out the air filter I am thinking you have a bad electric choke on it, possibly sticking.

Miami, I took the variator off and checked inside, looked at the weights and they are dirty but nothing else, none were broken or cracked. Zman, Someone also told me it may be the choke, it also smokes and that made me think the choke was on as well.

OK you got the basics out of the way. Check your choke as mentioned above by connecting both wires to a battery and see if it contracts after 2 to 3 minutes. If it doesn't your choke is bad.

If it is you fuel enrichment valve you can do as I did. And make it a manual enrichment valve. This is from another member who showed me.

Look at post #37
http://www.buggymasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4518

Only thing I did different is I used epoxy to adhere the top nut on and used a ( this stuff like JB platic weld to close the hole wires use to come from)
Unscrew bolt allows fuel through thus enriching it make it easier to start on cold days.
And closing bolt'; closes valve and is how the buggy normally should run.

Looked high and low for those bolt mod pics last night with no luck!
easy but tough mod to do, real crap shoot on how the chokes are assembled. I broke 2 chokes trying to unscrew them, success with a 3rd. It looks like some get glued together at the threads. First two were completely fused together at the thread, the broken chunks at the threads wouldn't come off of each other. 3rd one had little bits of clear glue, thought it was sand in the threads at first, but it was definitely a glue of some sort.

It was a cake walk for me lol.
I guess I lucked out, but has been a real blessing when jetting because I know it is closed and a true reading.
