Hello From New York
Good afternoon, My Name is Tom, I am new to the Buggy World, I recently "inherited" a rolling, American Sportworks 150cc Helix Fox Chassis. No engine, no transmission, no brakes, lookin to learn and build and make friends. Ill get some photos up here when I get a chance, Not new to the karting (direct drive) world but new to the buggy world, so it IS rather foreign to me, (transmissions and convertors and such).

Welcome to the forum Tom and don't worry, there are enough "mad scientists" here to talk you thru anything you might encounter when it comes to these buggy's, plus all kinds of step by step tutorials and videos to help you get it done! so relax you came to the right place, and remember, we where all newbies at some point!

Welcome Tom. Now you just have to figure out just how far you want to push that buggy. Since you have to buy an engine anyways you might as well go crazy, right?

Thanks guys, Yeah, I'd like to beef that engine up a bit, and as suggested in another post, I might just get a GY6 150cc engine and slap it in there for ease of use... I think I'd want to beef it up a bit as well... any ideas on kits to get the most bang for my buck?

What kind of terrain will you be riding on and what do you want your buggy to do? It is a good idea to stick with the gy6 for ease of install. They are not all created equal though. There are some on here who are way more qualified than I to give recommendations. You can actually get a very impressive amount of power from these little 150s. There are bib bore kits, stroker cranks, forged pistons, as well as machine work to the head and intake, custom exhaust, and more. It all depends on what you want to do and how far you want to go. There are some engines out there that can be bought already built. Again there are others here who are more suited than me to give recommendations. Stick around, ask questions, if you take your time and do it right from the start you will be much more happy in the end.
