Buggy VIN decoding...
I have a Carter Talon with the VIN located on the cross bar directly behind the seats. Would like to be able to decode this VIN if possible but have not found much information on this subject. I have seen that the 10th digit is the year of manufacture. Is this correct and is there any more information regarding the decoding of VINs not just for the Carter Talon but others also ? Thanks in advance.
Sure would have been easier to order a wiring harness rather than making one. |

I haven"t seen anything on this site or any others regarding decoding the vin #. I ain"t saying there isn"t, just saying I haven"t seen any info.

That is not a vin# it is a serial # which is random. This is the reason you won't see these buggies in the NADA guide for there is no way to determine the year from that number. Some buggy mfg.'s have begun to use a vin # as of late but still most don't.

At least that issue is settled. Still leaves me without a year of manufacturing.
