Default News flash!

Just a quik update on "ole blue". I got with Tom @ syc and he has advised me that I have one of the old versions of the "modified 2 bolt heads"? the valves for this head are 81mm long, instead of 66mm like most others! He is in the process of finding a set he has stashed somewhere at his shop. Once I get those I'll put the engine back toghether, as for the other plans I had for this year, if you read my rant "gov. b.s." well the rest is just gonna have to wait! I'll let you know when she's roaring!

Default Just wondered?

Hey does anyone know, could I just change the entire head assy. to change from the 81mm long valves to the more common 66mm?

If your bolt pattern matches a head like that it would seem that you could, but the studs would most likely need shortened. This is just theory from me as I'm not sure what heads are available but if the bolt pattern was the same it seems like it should work.

Default possible?

Yea, I mean the head I have is a 4 bolt pattern and is only 2.5" thick, Tom said it's a mixture of old and new probably, so I just need to get my mics out and check the bolt pattern to see if its possible, just in case Tom doesn't have the 81mm anymore. It would be a shame to have to give up that p&p haed though.

True. And valves would be cheaper than a head. From what I have seen so far there are 54mm bolt pattern and 57mm. Type A and B respectively.

Default type a

Ok so I took the time to measure my stud holes and I got a 54mm reading from center hole to center hole, so if all else fails I think I'm a canidate to replace the whole head if need be! just waiting to hear from boss man Tom at this point.
