Speedo Problem...
Hey guys,
I just went for a ride on my buggy and half way though my ride the speedo started acting funny. When riding around 25mph the speedo would jump back and forth from all different speeds, from 0mph to 5, 11, 15 and they back to reading right. Also, my odometer isn't working. my ride was around 30 to 35 miles but its only shows 12 miles, which I'm guessing is when my speedo started acting up. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be..? Thanks |

what kind of buggy is it? my speedo magnet is on the rear brake caliper but that may be your issue. check to make sure the speedo pickup is lined up with the magnet. sometimes thet get knocked out of whack and then don't pick up the signal accurately. there won't be much clearance between the speedo pickup and the magnet.

I have the 150cc carbide. I seen the speedo magnet on the rear axel, I cleaned the mud off of it but that didn't work. I can fit my finger tip between that little black thing with the wires coming off it and the magnet on the rear axel. Is that too big of a gap?

i have a carbide also and the gap between the two is only about 1/8-3/16"
close enough to pick up a signal without rubbing together. if that doesn't work it just be a bad sensor. to be honest, mine works on the carbide i have never paid any attention to it...

Yes you can adjust the space between the sensor and the pickup. Narrow the gap a little and see if that helps.
