Default starter noise

So the starter is making a grinding whining sound when being turned over then suddenly acts normal sometimes I have to bump the key to get it to catch or crank right any help appreciated I am a mechanic but not on atv and scooters but can fix any of it

Sounds like the bendix is gettin stuck.

That's the deal brand new starter and I have went through it. Its not electrical I checked new battery and good voltage. I also added a ground strap and extra ground wires to the cuv

some times u just get a bad part, it happens to all of us.

Sounds like the bendix/starter clutch to me.

Also could there be anyway on the Carb to have an air leak around the rubber choke cable boot for loss of power
