Default New to me Carbide 265cc

It needs some tlc for sure. But after a little fiddling with the carb it fired up. I bought it used for $500 and I hope to have it the way I want it for that much or less. It's in decent shape, but was used as a farm buggy for its early years. The drive chains, sprockets and belt are SHOT so I want to re gear it. I plan on putting bigger tires on it and changing the gearing to give it a bit more punch off the line. It has a rough idle which I'm assuming has something to do with the carb. I've gotta pull it apart and clean it good. It will be adult operated so an excess of power on tap won't be a problem. Any help yall got lemme know!

I actually wanted that frame to drop a 250cc -350cc engine in it.
I guess that is an 8hp ?
Bigger tires are really going to slow that " punch " down. It probably is a robin subaru engine too right? Not a lot of upgrades for that.
A larger axle sprocket might be to close to the ground, so I would go with a smaller jackshaft sprocket, adjust the the spring tension on driven unit or get a stiffer spring.

You can always remove the governor, get a uni filter, aftermarket exhaust ( I bought mine from robertsons torque tubes. He Also makes air filter adapters..
You can Port and polish the intake and exhaust too. ( I am doing that right now to a 5hp briggs flathead)
There are a few other options but those I will find link for later.

Oh and Welcome!!!!!

From what I've read it's a 10hp. Yes it's a scoob engine. Which I was rather disappointed in the power it has, or lack thereof. I don't think there will be any issues with the sprocket hitting the ground, its mainly gonna be a dirt road/ field fun buggy. How do i remove the governor? There a website for the filter and exhaust?

Pics and vids will come. I'm working on two buggies and my Harley one day a week at a time. Truckin sucks.

That's good info but I don't see the robaru engine in any of that. Is it just similar or what?

The RS engine does not have any that aftermarket parts. It is just one of the most reliable engines. If you were to remove governor I would leave stock valve springs. Valve float is better than throwing a rod.
Stick with axle and JS sprocket gearing. That will be the best bang for your buck.
remember it is an industrial engine not a GY6 type that puts more down. Concentrate on your GY6 kinroad because have tons of upgrades.
