Default Trailmaster xrx 150 upgrades.

Hi everyone. I'm new to go karting and gy6. I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction for parts. Which cdi should I buy. Ac or dc? Also how about the exhaust systems available? Can I run a cheap scooter exhaust? Would it be on the passenger side? Create a complicated install? And finally. If any one has finished builds of this kart. Please share your beautiful pictures. I plan on ordering a bit of parts this weekend. Thanks guys.

(I want to trail ride with my xrx)

I have the cheap orange spark coil online for 10$ and a Dr pulley variator, gtc clutch, airaid cai, plus I put a lightbar on mine and changed outhe the factory headlights with led pods.

for some reason, all research i do leads to an AC cdi.... 2 wire in small connector, and i bought the trailmaster parts manual, in which the cdi says its 6.000.126 (comes up as a coil) coil is listed as 6.000.125 (googles as an AC cdi...) im SO confused

Your buggy has the DC cdi. Aftermarket DC volt CDI's are all designed around the lighter scooter so the timing map will not be sufficient for your buggy. The DC CDI's used today in the buggy has the proper timing map for your heavier buggy. Your largest gains will be achieved by going with a performance head ported and polished along with a cam, open filter system and a re jet.

wow, excellent. thank you very much! deciding to not go with a cdi.
goin with air intake, jets, 1500 clutch springs, and 10 gram rollers. hopefully that will be the ticket to keeping up on the trails with other atvs. also, thinking of gutting the exhaust. as i dont feel like spending 300 on a hammerhead just yet.

Most of the time 12 grm rollers are what you will want, unless you have very steep hills to climb.

I have 12 gram rollers in mine. The 10 grams just made the rpms go up too much for my comfort. I was at half throttle just cruising around. Mine had 14 stock. the 12 still have enough climbing power too.

I put mud lites on before I switched so it dosent spin regardless now but the Dr pulley variator is the first upgrade I would recomend. It completely changes the kart.

Another thing you need to do rite away is change the cotter pins to bigger ones on the bottom of the front a-arms and put lock tight on that nut. My pin broke and it striped that bolt out and was 80$ to fix but I use mine like a 4 wheeler.

Did you switch to sliders at the time too?

I found no gain, even some loss from the Dr. P variator. Went back to stock.

No I bought rollers to find the right weight but never got around to buying sliders. The variator gave me more takeoff and overall feel. The 61mm bbk was a night and day differnce and I love it.
