Default ok - now what?!?!?

Hi Everyone,

I have Baja Dune 150 with the howhit motor. Was running fine. Fired it up one night after having to clean up the carb. Worked. Next day - nothing. Snowed that night (buggy is covered) and could not get it started. Hmmm. thought plug maybe? Checked out ok. jumped the solenoid and it started! Used it a while in the snow. Stopped at a neighbors. Could not even jump the solenoid now. I did hook a bigger battery when attempting to start it. Thought maybe I friend the solenoid. Ordered two solenoids. Put one in this morning with the battery fresh off the charger/maintainer and nothing. A click, ultra high pitched squeal also. tried jumping the wires again - nothing.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Joe

If you jumped the solenoid with a fully charged battery then it sounds like either a bad connection or the starter itself. Check your grounds and all you battery and starter cables.

I have seen water issues inside starters cause problems too. I only mention this because you leave it outside.

ditto the above, starter might be shorting at the positive brush post (where the primary hot wire connects)

Yup. Starter. Took it apart and the one magnet came loose and broke apart. Ordered a new one. Thanks!
