Helix 150 seatbelts locked up

Just picked up my 1st buggy, a Helix 150 and 1 week later both seat belts lock up. How tough are these to service. I took the drivers side apart and already cracked th housing and seems like a pretty sealed up unit. Should I go for the warranty or does anyone have a trick to loosen these up?

Taking them apart, it seems that the locking mechanism is set too sensitively and can lock up very easily. I've got them working freely now but not sure for how long. What a pain!
