you will be much better off (cheaper, easier) to just wire up lights to a 12v battery and re-charge it after each use.

See your other post about reverse options- Your alternator idea is good- if you can successfully make it work please post pic's. The adding of a battery IS the cheapest way to get working head lights on this kart with the Robin engine- the battery isn't that heavy!!! So does the Robin engine run? What type is the cheapo engine?

look for a UPS battery, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/APC-RBC2-Compa.../dp/B004H2YVPW
There is a really good explanation about batteries/amp hours/wattage on this forum, go read those, will explain what to get. I think they weigh about 5 lbs. not enough to worry about. I bought a Havoc for my grandson, have never seen a reverse for it... Search this forum for "reverse" you will see a lot of discussion for a GY6 reverse, but not for these. Your leg is probably the cheapest/best reverse. |

That's what I did when I had my Manco Vortex... I had a 12v lawn mower battery and attached it to the frame in the back. Then, I just attached two fog lights to the front of it with a switch run to the steering wheel. I had to recharge the battery every little while, but it worked fine.

here is what I did on my yerf 3203 (battery is UPS type bottom center). I use zip ties for now to hold it on, will probably do something more permanent later.
