Yerf Dog Rear Tire upgrade
I thought you all might get a kick out of this. I installed a pair of 24x11x10 tires mounted on a set of ITP aluminum wheels on the back of my daughters Yerf. They look huge on the back of this thing and the top end feels like it has increased substantially. I have a feeling it will be the gutless wonder on the sand hills but we haven't had a chance to try it yet. If nothing else it looks pretty menacing.

It may surprise you! With the low 13/40 internal gearing in those yerfs, it might work! I'm curious, let us know how it does.

Will do. We just haven't had a chance to try it in the sand yet. The wheels tires were take offs from my Pilot.

Update...
My daughter & I took the Yerf out for a short ride to try out the 24" tires in the sand. The buggy did better than I had guessed it would and she was able to climb some sand hills that she couldn't before with the stock turf tires. They did hurt the power enough that it wouldn't pull us both up the hills but once I got my fat butt out of the buggy she had no problems. I may see if I can find a counter shaft sprocket for it so I can drop it one tooth and pick back up some of the bottom end it lost. If I come up bust on the sprocket, I have a nice set of 22x12x10 semi Sand Paddles on the back of my Pilot I may mount on her wheels and try. I ordered a new set of 24x11x10 ITP Mud Lites for my Pilot so I won't be needing the paddles. |

Those big rear tires compliment the fronts now. Are those tires actually 24" tall? BTW-The 20x12x10's on the back of my wife's are actually 21-1/2" tall and she's still using the 16t drive sprocket and it still climbs well.

Might be able to flip them around and get some extra floatation on the sand with them.

Also a great point, If I flip them we can get a little tire spin which may help. |

Can`t say I blame ya, lol.
I`ve got an 04 1 ton single wheel, I wouldn`t have anything else. Done anything to it ?

No it's just stock, but it pulls my enclosed car trailer like it's not even there.

03-04`s are 305hp/555tq, but they get the best mileage. Hope your at least running a fuel pressure gauge, these things are bad about the transfer pump (lift pump) laying down in them.
Sorry to have hijacked your thread, lol.

No problem. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge on it. The only problem I have really had with it is, it keeps blowing the air bag fuse.

The Yerf uses a 13t drive sprocket if you don't have reverse and 31t axle sprocket. Swap the axle sprocket for a 39t.

A good port and polish on the head will give you more power on the sand.

I mounted up the 22x12x10 sand paddles and wow what a difference. She climbed everything she pointed it at today. These fit very well ont the 8" ITP wheels with a 3x5 offset.
I think when these get worn I will replace them with a set of 22" ITP Mud Lites similar to the 24 ITP's on my Pilot. Last edited by Rarerat; 12-21-2010 at 07:12 PM. |

Thanks, there really isn't anything else out there that I've seen that even comes remotely close to the all around performance of the Pilots. You can flat soar off a jump and when it comes back down it's so dang smooth, nothing like my old Pogo Stick 350 Odyssey.

I see it still has the stock air box on it. Maybe you can use the UNI intake, a little larger jet and open up the exaust a little, to give it more power to turn those wheels. I think it looks great with then on there.
