Need a Shifter Assembly

Since i'm going with a motorcycle engine in my kart,I need a way to shift gears.I figure that i will need at least a 4 speed shifter,I've been looking at shifters on ebay,But it seems like those are only good for 3 speeds. Those anybody know where i can find a shifter,Or am i looking at using a shifter assembly for a car?

I think you're going to need to figure out your linkage up to the shifter mount area and how many and which way the rods or cables will be moving first. Once you know how that portion will work, that'll tell you if you want a simple forward/backward handle with clutch lever or need something that works in multiple directions. Car shifters are not much more than a rod going through a ball and socket assembly. that goes for toploaders or linkage types.

Motorcyles shift in only one direction at a time- either forward or backwards with "NO" shift pattern- it makes no difference how many gears are on the engine. Any lever that swings front to rear is all that's needed. Whether you use solid linkage or a cable is your preference. I can post the 3 shifters I'm using- 2 are completely homemade, the other is a store bought shifter with a homemade frame.

Here's some examples to give you ideas: The first pic's has a lever you could use for your clutch instead of mounting a clutch pedal (it's for reverse in my pic's). Last pic shows rod linkage instead of a shifter cable.
