dunes and paddle tires

hi all. glad to have stumbled across BuggyMasters! a quick look at the various forums and posts suggests that we are in the right place. quick first (of many) questions then. looking to get some paddles for a little Kasea 125 single seater. some dunes not far from the house and we find that the knobbies dont bite anywhere near enough to get us up the more steep ones. engine only 125 but optimized for what it is... thinking of paddle tires but dont know much more about them. ideas??

I don't know a whole lot about paddle tires but if all you are going to run on would be sand I would think they would work best.

Try running some chevron patterned tires with the tread reversed to create scoops. You cannot run anything aggressive due to the small engine. For fronts, run the tallest smooth tires that will fit to reduce drag.

Thanks for the ideas. Should also point out that our running grounds are an approximate 70:30 mix of low scrub/ dirt trail and dune (Juniper Dunes, eastern WA). Would low paddles be inordinately damaged on the low scrub?? Thanks all...

Most paddles are soft with only a couple of plies. They definitely will get damaged in scrub. Look for knobby or chevron tires with at least four plies.

hey GX150, thanks for the advice. chevron sounds like a good starting place here. we have knobbies on and they take us up many but certainly not all of the dunes. would like to try something with just a bit more bite (would really like to swap the gy6 up to 200cc!!). will hit up the local motorsports shop for their offerings - always nice to walk in with some baseline knowledge...
