Default Question on governor

I have a clone 390 honda in a tractor. My question regards the governor. Can I disconnect the governors linkage and run with just a spring loaded throttle linkage?

I'm sure you can, but why?????

You'll shorten engine life by over-revving the engine. Usually they make most torque in the RPM range that it's goverened in.
